Wahoo Families,
With short course winding down, now is the time to reflect on the successes and challenges of the season. Shortly you will receive a survey via email that is being conducted by a third party hired by the Wilton YMCA; we encourage you to complete this survey. Please know that those who choose not to complete the email survey may be contacted by the third party (Triangle2) to answer the questions via phone. It is important to understand that ALL surveys received will be evaluated by Triangle2 and not by Wilton YMCA personnel so your anonymnity is guaranteed. We hope you will take the time to complete the survey; answering the questions candidly and providing additional detail where it is requested. This is your opportunity to let us know what you think. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any one of us.
Sincerely, Jenn Lewis, Tracey Owens and Bob McDowell.

Dear Wahoo Families,
The championship season has begun!! It has already been a great start and everyone is very excited about how fast our athletes are swimming.

Many swimmers have already qualified to attend YMCA Nationals this April in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We will have about 25 attending. Some swimmers are still working to make their national cuts. As we all know, it is an honor and a privilege to represent the Wahoos and we proudly send this year’s qualifiers to represent the entire Wahoo Team at the YMCA National Championship Meet.

Prior to each spring National Meet, qualifying swimmers receive a surprise gift bag from the team. These bags are made possible by the generous donations from people like you!

In the past we have been fortunate enough to receive donations from swimmers’ families and various corporations. It is a worthwhile tradition as it builds excitement and reminds the competitors that they are representing the efforts of an entire team and the Wilton Y.

The donations are distributed to each swimmer at the pre-meet breakfast run by the parents on Saturday, March 27th. Sometimes the gifts are practical such as shampoo or sun lotion, and other times they are simply fun (see attached list of some of the items that have been donated in the past). If you would like to contribute but don’t have time to shop, feel free to make a cash donation and we are happy to do the shopping for you.

We are asking for all donations by Sunday, March 21st. If you can help us, or if you have a question about this long-standing tradition, please let us know.

Thank you! Sincerely,

Annbeth Lattimer annbethlattimer@optonline.net or 203-834-1662 and
Patti Pahmer PPahmer@comcast.net or 203-431-1953.

Parents of Age Group Swimmers
Attached please find a spreadsheet containing the Wahoo work assignments for the upcoming weekend
Click here for assignments. Every family with a swimmer in more than one event over the course of the weekend has been assigned one shift. The shifts are 1/2 of a session (probably an hour and 45 minutes or so in duration.) If you cannot make your assigned shift, please switch with someone and send Tracey Owens traceyowens@optonline.net an e-mail so our list is up to date. We have done our best to place families in time slots in accordance with your child's event ( i.e. families with swimmer in events later in the session should find that they are working the latter shift.) If you cannot find a replacement and cannot make your shift, please let us know asap as the Wahoos are fined $50 for every open position.

Volunteers should check in with the person listed as your session's "back-up/volunteer coordinator" (ex Sat AM where there is no back-up) as soon as warm-up begins. It is this person's responsibility to communicate with the work assignment desk, ensure all of our volunteers are there and fill-in in the event a family cannot attend due to an unexpected illness or something of that nature.

FINALS: All families with swimmers participating in finals should expect to work a finals session or two. Additional e-mail to follow regarding finals.

We really appreciate all of your help and look forward to receiving your feedback on this new process the week after age groups.
Tracey and Jenn

Wahoo families
As short course is winding down, we think this is a great opportunity to review the season's challenges and successes at our 2nd Parents Forum (if you missed it, we hosted one in the conference room in Oct.) Please join Wahoo Parent Advisory Board Co-Presidents (Jenn and Tracey) at 6:30 Tuesday, March 16th in the Activity Room to talk about whatever's on your mind and we can fill you in on some of the latest WPAC initiatives. Please note that this forum is for parents of swimmers and no coaches will be in attendance.

Important Information for Swimmers and Parents for our upcoming Championship Season!!
It is time once again to start preparing for our Championship Season! It is very important that all swimmer begin to take care of their bodies.
We are looking forward to a great championship season!!
Please drink plenty of water to keep your bodies hydrated. It is a good idea to try to drink 5/32 oz bottles of water over the course of a whole day. Start to eat healthy foods. Stay away from the Junk Food and Soda! Don’t forget to eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Go to bed on time and get a good night sleep to help your body recover. Start wearing your sneakers wherever you go. Avoid wearing your flip flops and crocs. The reason I want you to wear your sneakers versus your crocs or flip flops is that sneakers have arch support and are designed to cushion the feet and legs when you run or walk. This will keep your legs less fatigued. The first thing to go in a race is your legs so anything we can do to keep your legs from getting fatigued and tired is a plus. That is why it is very important to wear your sneakers wherever you go over the next two to four weeks. It is especially important that you wear your sneakers at the meet! Anytime you walk around, to the bathroom or behind the blocks wear your sneakers. It will give you an advantage over your competition.

There was a problem with the Team Photo order and all of the photos were sent back to the company. The problem was actually partly our fault because on photo day our gold squad and senior 2 took their photos out of order and no one told the photographers. This caused a mix up in the sequences of the team photos with individual photos. Hopefully we will get them back in a few days...Would like to apologize to you all and as soon as I get them back I will let you know...Roger Stewart

Wahoo Families,
Thank you for all of your time contributed to make our Thanksgiving Invite a success! We were forced to make a lot of changes in a very short period of time in order to meet fire code requirements and make the meet run as efficiently as possible. We realize that these changes put a lot of pressure on the volunteers and we are very grateful for your support. While the meet is fresh in all of our minds, we would like to solicit feedback especially pertaining to meet management. Any new suggestions that may improve the quality of our home meets are welcome, as well as your opinions regarding the measures taken for the Thanksgiving Invite (no deck chairs, volunteer sign-in in the lobby, wahoo swimmers in the gym, volunteer parking attendants.) Please forward your feedback to Tracey Owens at traceyowens@optonline.net or Jenn Lewis at j4lewis@aol.com. Thanks!

Thank you for the overwhelming response to earn credits for helping with the Wahoo bulletin boards and mailboxes. I will notify those that responded first to help out in the next couple of days with instructions for what needs to be done.

Also, for all returning Wahoo families, please remember that we need ALL forms returned. It is very important to have the medical release forms and code of conduct forms before all practices begin. Thank You.
