From Coach Derek:
Wahoo Families:
I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for another amazing summer! I cannot believe it has come and gone already. For everyone who was at Cheshire and at Wesleyan this past weekend we saw some amazing swimming and I would like everyone to know just how proud I am of your accomplishments. We had some ups and downs but learned a lot about ourselves in the process. There is no doubt in my mind we were the class of the meet.

I hope everyone takes some time away from the pool and enjoys their break. Taking some time away from the pool is very important. It allows us to recover both mentally and physically. I want everyone to come back for the upcoming 2009-2010 Short Course Season ready to take the Wahoos to new heights!

We will begin the season two weeks earlier than we have in the past. Our first day of practice will begin on Monday September 14th with the Super Squad beginning on Tuesday September 15th. We will be getting the squad assignments up on the web in the next week or so for your review. We should also have the registration forms up for you to print out, fill out, and return to us in the Wahoo Office. Stay tuned for further details!

Finally, I would personally like to thank everyone who nominated me for Coach of the Year. I am blown away by the support you all have given me over this past season. Without your support none of this is possible. Thank You!

Starting in the Fall we are hoping to change the way we do concessions. Our current plan is to 1) cater the fresh food and 2) divide this smaller job among at least three families. These new positions should be a more manageable way to provide concessions and a great opportunity for a few families to earn credits - especially for people who need scheduling flexibility and/or have a greater need for credits (i.e. National team parents.) Please review the attached detailed description and let us know if you would be interested in volunteering or have any other questions.

From Coach Todd:
I am proud to announce that we have been accepted into the Shawmutt-Uconn Meet for Saturday and Sunday 6/27-28. This meet entry was made because the original "makos" meet was closed, and unfortunately some swimmers who may have opted out for that weekend were entered into this meet because the "makos" sign-out sheet could not be retrieved. I wanted to make sure everyone had ample opportunities for competition.

So, please check the final entry posted in the lobby as I am pleased to announce that we have this valuable opportunity to compete on the weekend of this meet. All my best,

I would like to have a National Team parents meeting this Saturday (5/9) at 12:00 noon in the community room. Swimmers must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer with Bubble down on May 16th - This is a liability issue and Team policy. Thank You.

From Coach Derek: (for Gold Squad dry-land)
Due to the current state of the economy our fitness center staff has informed me that they have to cut back on our dry-land program which will take effect immediately. Please drop of your child at 6:15 PM on Wednesday to stretch before they get in the water for practice. The coaching staff is currently working on an alternative dry-land program for Wednesday. To all Senior 2 - parents and swimmers When we begin back to training on Monday, April 27th, the following change will take place to the Senior 2 practice schedule - FRIDAYS - will now be from 7:00 - 8:15pm - Dryland will be in the pool area or outside from 6:15 - 7:00pm. This due to the size of the Senior 1 squad which will make a combination practice problematic due to lane space. Any questions should be directed to Coach Todd.
