Joining the Team
All swimmers are encouraged to become members of the Wahoo Swim Team. Tryouts are held by the coaching staff to evaluate the appropriate level for the swimmer. Contact the coaching staff at 203-762-8384 x-287 or x-288 for an appointment.

The Wahoos are widely recognized for running excellent swim meets at all levels. This dedication by the Parents association and alumni along with the strong support of the YMCA led to the recent construction and 1994 opening of our new pool:

Who Are We?
The Wilton Y Wahoo Swim Team programs encompass all ages and levels of ability, from beginners through Olympic competitors. The program is structured to provide careful development and steady progression through the stages of competitive swimming. The program is composed of athletes and their families from communities throughout Connecticut and Westchester County. The wilton Y Wahoos have achieved a reputation for excellence recognized across the United States. The Wilton Y Wahoos are a member club of Connecticut Swimming, Inc. and are chartered under the United States Swimming.
Wahoo History
The Wilton Y Wahoos was founded in 1972 as an age group program and rapidly developed into a regional contender. In 1977 the team adopted the name Wahoos, the fastest game fish in the ocean, and the legacy of achievement on a national and international level began. The results speak for themselves.

Wahoo swimmers come from over 20 towns in southwestern Connecticut and Westchester County. 25 Wahoos have competed at Olympic Trials, including 1988 Olympic Silver Medalist Janel Jorgensen.
The Program
Age Group Swimming and Y Dual & CT Y Champtionships
Swimmers compete in Age Group meets, CT Age Group Championships, CT Senior Championships and Eastern Zone Championships
Swimmers also compete in YMCA dual meets, CT State YMCA Championships.
Senior Swimmers travel and compete in YMCA Spring and Summer Nationals at the Swimming Hall of Fame, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
You can be a Wahoo swimmer at all levels of commitment and ability.
Bronze (8&U) and Super Bronze (9/10) teams provide entry level training.
At a greater level of commitment, you will be on the Super Squad, Maroon, Gold, Senior II and I team or the National team depending on age and ability.
